Hepatitis B (HbsAg surface antigen)

HBsAg is the surface antigen of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). It indicates current hepatitis B infection. The test allows detecting the presence of virus. HBsAg test results means that the person is infected with the hepatitis B virus, which can be an "acute" or a "chronic". Infected people can pass the virus on to others through their blood and infected bodily fluids.

Specimen requirement - 5 ml of peripheral blood collected in gel vacutainer tube and plasma/serum is isolated.
